Wedding Ideas
There are so many sites and magazines devoted to the subject of your wedding, that we won't attempt to replay every great idea we've seen. What we will do is talk about some of the items that relate to us, in our area of expertise. Videography. Along the way, we'll throw in a few tidbits here and there, as well. The Love Story/Same Day Edit
This one's a great way to go to add that personal touch at your wedding.
Take our word for it. We're a husband and wife team at Iris, and we did
just this for our own wedding, so it's not just something we sell. Imagine...all
of your guests are assembled at the reception. The lights dim, and music
begins to play. The audience sees you on screen, telling the story of
how you met, letting them into your lives, and even witnessing the footage
from the ceremony you just had through the eyes of the camera! How many
times have you been to a wedding without knowing the real story behind
the couple? A love story and a same day edit are your chance to let your
guests share in your new life. Let longtime friends who you haven't seen
for years and relatives who weren't there during your courtship see what
this day means to the two of you. It's not just a way to personalize the
wedding, it's a way add intimacy. Be sure to ask us about it!
Scheduling your day
Generally, we tell people who are trying to stay under budget that the
best time to have the videographer show up is about an hour before you
put on your dress, and leave after you cut your cake. It's a good blend
of footage that captures the essentials. Is it better to get more? No
doubt about it. We've seen so many great things happen in the mornings
at the hair salon and right as the event ended. But what about the rest
of the day? If you were to ask us what the most important thing is in
a wedding from our perspective, the answer may surprise you. It's having
a happy couple. It's your day, and you should enjoy it. That's our first
priority. One top of that, your mood is most certainly reflected in the
video. Unlike still photographs, which can hide what goes on between the
bigger moments, the video catches it all, so be happy!
We've found that the number one item is to allow ample time for each item on your checklist. Almost everything except the ceremony and reception are going to take longer than it seems like they will. The hair. The make-up. The photo session. Even getting to cake cutting. When brides ask us, for example, whether they can do Central Park, Times Square, and Grand Central in two hours, our answer is to plan on getting one or two locations. If the shoot is fast and traffic is light, have your vendors ready for a third, but prepare yourself psychologically for less, so you'll be able to enjoy your time. You're going to be married for the first time. You're going to be with your closest friends. Enjoy it.
Cellophane
Just happened to see this at a wedding. We loved the effect. Place crumpled
clear cellophane in the water in a tall vase. Looks just great. Put a
few rocks on top of the cellophane to keep it from floating up, and put
the flowers on top. It feels almost like ice.
